Not good enough!
red/yellow - fuel pump trigger
red/green - starter motor live
yellow/black - ecu power (from ecu relay)
Might be worth checking with a mk2 person though.

thanks for the info, these have been wired up now but when its cranked over it only gives 1 spark? any ideas?

How do you mean?... Only one plug sparking?
-
my dad just said there is only one spark when its cranked so im guessing it could be one on all or one from the coil?

Hmmm, not sure.. would need clearer info on symptoms.
-
the red/yellow - has been wired to fuel pump trigger
red/green - has been wired to starter motor live
2x yell/black cables have been wired to power so now there is power to ecu
when the key is turned and held at crank position there is one cycle of sparks to each plug then nothing and also there is no power to ecu...?

Strange, probably something for the mk2 boys again. :undecided:
Poorly coil maybe?
Has it got an imobiliser?
-
it did have an immobiliser but i took the ignition barrel rear housing off and ripped the immoboliser out and wired it back up as norm to the ignition.

Did it work OK before this? :lipsrsealed:

we got the car with the 1.6 lump in it with no head as there was a mechanical fault with it, he didnt give us the fob for the imobiliser so we took this off and the lump and got a 1.8 digifant enigine with the metering airflow box ecu and wiring and dropped this in.
I did this with my mk1 in the avatar below but i used a scirocco gt 1.8 lump, i wish i told my dad to get one of these lumps now as it was pi** easy to install compaired to this digifaff

i was looking through your build thread makes me upset seeing your mk1 wish i never sold mine
i noticed you gutted the old clifford out of your car do you think there is more in our mk1 i only took a single unit out which was plumbed in between the ignition barrel and the cables to it?
pic of my old rhd german imported mk1 i still feel  thinking about it

I've commented on your mk1 before a while back as it's similar to mine in looks, same kit/colour. Never going to sell mine... NEVER!
It depends on the system, I didn't just bin everything Clifford related, I binned all the MK1's looms too and started again. It was just beyond help.
If you only had an immobiliser in there, there wont be much to remove. If it's a full alarm system then there could potentially be loads going on behind the dash. With dash and carpets removed I found:
3 brains
Microwave sensors
Glass Tamper sensors
Tilt sensors
Proximity zone adjustment box
Central Locking system
a sh*t load of relays and obviously all the additional wiring that was required to make it all work.
Did you just remove the immobiliser or did you remove it and ensure the ignition wiring was back to how it was originally?.. Immobilisers often have a cunningly placed relay or 2 connected to them to cut the power to either the coil, fuel pump or both.
-
It was just a box which was connected inline to the ingition switch, i just unsoldered the unit out and reconnected the cables back to the ignition switch as normal. the immobiliser only unit had 2 wires going to the key reader thats on the dash which you push the key fob onto to dissable.
