Title: Little advice needed please
Post by: samueloc235 on 05 March 2012, 11:24
First off hi all .

I came across a 1.8t for around 1500

Only concern I have is he says it's 190bhp ?

It's been remapped and has forge engine mods

would like some advice, if it's legit or not

Thanks

Welcome to forum... I'm guessing you're referring to a mk4 golf.  Seems quite cheap.

How would you like us to determine if it's legit or not, the power claim?

It's easily possible but would be better if you knew what the mods are exactly and where the Remap was done?

I would be more concerned about it actually driving well and no turbo issues, than what power it can do!
Whats the point in power when the car could just be a dead horse?
Ask more relevant questions about the car what to expect history etc common sense not POWER!
How old is it, how many miles has it done, who did the mapp?

You are either scared someone else is going to buy this car or you just don't know anything about cars?
Suggestions:
Contact R-tech and see if they have a rolling road mapp on record, say you have just bought the car and want to know more about its history its proberly them who might have done some or more of the mods to reach that BHP?
You might want to buy it first then come back, as some of the members can shed some light on the mods done and give some pointers?
At this stage what you have given us in information is too limited!
MK4?

yes its possible, weather or not its legit is another question.

we cant veiw the car for you, go have a look see if its in good condition, see what mods has been done, see if you like it take it on a test drive, if your really botherd about how much power it is ask the guy whos selling it if he has the rolling road print outs, if not see if rtech have any.

rtech did loads of people on heres maps and used to be a forum sposor so there good guys and know what there doing. i wouldn't be botherd about the map/power claim ide just treat it as a normal car, look it over make sure everythings ok have a drive, if you like it go for it if not then dont. then if you want more power look into getting a stage 2 map or doing other mods.

either way a mk4 with 80k in good condition usually sells for around 1k-1.5k

£1500 is not that expensive with those miles, but as other people have said make sure everything is all ok and worry about the power later.

Fair enough.. All depends on the car and the seller at the end of the day.  With the amount we have to go on with this one, who knows.
