Post by: navmk4gti on 04 March 2012, 19:39
My flywheel is on its last legs me thinks.. Getting a
Constant vibration on idle and when hit 2k revs get stront jolt vibration.. I knew it is on way out thougjt could make last 2-3 more months

Where is the best place get a saches kit.. I found vr6 sachs clutch on vwspares (avscarparts) for £108.. But cant find g60 flywheel on there.. Or is it better To buy as a kit?? If so anyone have any links to one cant Find fook all and ones maintenance section links all Old

Your right to be cautious though, lots of things on there appear to be real - I bought a flasher unit for my mini only £5 it said genuine Lucas and arrived in a Lucas box however it was clearly a fake product with no stamp and it fell apart!

I would never advise this normally as mk3 related lol

Breaking for spares section, and message people breaking ABF engine coded mk3's, same wheel and should be able to get one for £40ish posted..

Just had this done fly wheel and clutch go OEM mate nit g60 you wont gain any benifits from a singal mass only that if clutch goes you won't need to replace fly wheel again. It will mate your clutch noise on ideal and the pedal will feel sh!t just my opinion  I had fly wheel and clutch done for 315 fitted with luk parts

Thanks for double checking first.

Iv heard it only makes pedal light not heard nothing about noise etc  :undecided:

I've heard they make a noise in a TDI but not in a petrol. When mine goes it'll be the techniclutch kit I'll be going for. The Sachs VR6 clutch should be good for 300ft/lb which is more than I will probably need.

Had mine it for years no noise whatsoever, light pedal I, love it  TDI it will vibrate at idle.

Some people find it can snatch a bit as the DM flywheel stops this.

R-tech saw nearly 300hp on standard dual mass btw.. so not necessarily an upgrade, more of a cheaper replacement that feels different!

Post by: navmk4gti on 05 March 2012, 17:06
So the only difference between vr6 clutch and g60 flywheel compared to orginal one fitted to 1.8t.. Is way it feels??

I believe so yes, and if a single mass clutch goes, you don't have to replace flywheel again..

However you shouldn't be replacing it very often anyway lol
Title: Re: Flywheel
Post by: navmk4gti on 05 March 2012, 17:19
I thOught the g60 flywheel and vr6 clutch can take more power and torque is that not why people get it  :undecided:

Yh hopefuly change just the once
Title: Re: Flywheel
Post by: Dave_IOW on 05 March 2012, 17:21
I believe that's a common misconception, its why i did it though TBH and then Nick said he was running near 300hp on standard dual mass, and if that went, he would be going for an uprated clutch and another dual mass flywheel!

Take of that what you want lol
Title: Re: Flywheel
Post by: JimBR on 05 March 2012, 17:26
A new dual mass is horribly expensive though right?  :lipsrsealed: It's alright of you can afford one but if a g60 single mass will do the same job for 1/5 of the price I know what I'd choose.

Post by: navmk4gti on 05 March 2012, 17:30
yh i think i prefer single too.. Lighter and atleast i know less chance of it going if any

Be nice see what the fuss is about now

The complete dual mass setup and complete vr6 clutch & ABF/G60 combo don't weigh hardly any different when you weigh them   :lipsrsealed:

Yes gearbox is heavy, i was holding it up in place while a mate bolted it up... there was a few times ''HURRY THE F**K UP YOU C**T'' got used lol

Had powerflex bushes bud hated them thats why got standard r32 dsg mount then was all fine until last sunday evrything was just fooked and drive is so bumpy and horrible.. I know my flywheel was on last legs as i was getting a judder on idle and when driving which just got more bad by the day

Post by: navmk4gti on 08 March 2012, 18:36
right guys there is like a slight oily residue bottom the engine by back dogbone mount.. it has been there for a good while to be fair but looks kinda fresh.. first gear is becoming a c unt to get into on way to work..its a bit stiff rest gears are fine... dont know if this is becuase the flywheel fooked..im going to take to chris on monday get it looked at good and propa before fit g60 flywheel and vr6 clutch.. if the gearbox looks like its fooked too then im going to just strip it as i had enough of the car now spent to much on it and the bodywork is really bad so aint worth fixing...just cancelled with the bodyshop for a respray  too

will see what happens monday .. well gutted
