Picked up my ED35 yesterday and I am very pleased with it  It drives fantastically, the high points so far are Looks, power, Bluetooth functionality is excellent and the Xenons are brilliant. Here's a couple of pics (need to take some better ones) but dont want to stop driving it.

Best wheels yes agree, everybody that has seen my car has commented how good the Glendales look. Best colour? I have a white ed 35, so obviously going to say mine is lol but the carbon grey looks very good, would love to see one in the flesh.

Great looking GTI.
Get yourself out to some night driving on b-roads and see your lights go round a corner I still get enjoyment from that two and a half years later.
Wee tip – Take care of your alloys I have polished black and silver a wee bit different style to your own. I got a wee sratch and found out it needed specialist fixing because these wheels are diamond cut. I was over £200 for a wee scratch on one wheel.

I hate you!

Nice!! would loook great with some monza shadows
-
Lovely! Welcome to the 35 club!
-
Very nice, prefer monza shadows tho tbh.

nice car
but why are all these ed35's being spec'd with optional wheels instead of the 'proper' 35 wheels?
if i bought a special edition i'd want to keep the right wheels on. you can get a GTD with them wheels on so!
thats the best colour though looks great.

I thort you could only get the std seattles or opt charlestons on the GTD????

hmmm dunno but there was a red one on a display ramp with the wheels on at a local dealers around the time i bought my GTI
either way they're available on other models so at a glance you mightn't know its an ed35

Have to say I second that, but I would...given that I'm getting the standard 18s. In my opinion they suit the car and image of the GTI, slightly understated look.

I agree you can get the 19s on a standard GTI so if it was me I would get one of the two 18 sets.
Each to there own though.

I've been looking for a piccy of a carbon grey GTi with black wheels as I was considering black ones when I get round to affording a new set (the Mk2's temporarily put paid to that plan) and this confirms that they'll suit well. Nice combo with the grey.
Having said that, I'm really not a fan of those silver tips although I'll reserve my final judgement until I've seen them in real life.

Congratualtions, that car looks stunning. I think thats the best colour on the GTI for me.
-
Lovely car, i get what people are saying about the wheels being available on other models but they have grown on me and i bet they look even better in the flesh and on the move, personally i think id still pick the 18"s as im aproaching 40 and they are a bit less in your face but thats just me. Great colour and car.
-
Every ed35 I've seen in the flesh has the 19s on so they must be a popular choice.
-
Thanks for all the positive comments  The Carbon Grey is a break from my usual Black or White and looks really classy. If we in the UK could have had the choice of Metallic Red then this would have been a tough choice.
I am so pleased with it because I am a real fan of this engine with the K04, it might be a bit laggy compared to the std car but it just has more character. I like when the turbo is spooling up and feel the the wave or torque and the noise it makes. I live out of town so most of my trips are B roads and the turn in with the 19" and Pirelli Zero's is much better than on my previous GTI with 18" Monza Shadows and Dunlop Sportmax, the front end just feels more planted. These little differences make the car feel more focused and the result is more fun. Again the Xenons at night on these B roads are very good and I now know why people rave about them.
It has drawn some admiring glances even had a guy in a Rocco R slow right down and have a really good look at it as they drove past in a car park.
I am really enjoying the new car feels like a small upgrade on the std car so would recommend this.
To go back to wheel debate I like the Watkins Glen and would not have minded if these were the only option and I love the Monza Shadows which I had on my last one but I wanted something different this time and these Glendale's do go really well with the ED35 look as it helps pick out the black trim better so hence the popularity.
