Title: Hello and some help
Post by: AlexJB81 on 02 March 2012, 15:01
Hello, I've just moved this from newbies to MK4 on advise,

I am new to this forum, My name is Alex and I drive a GTI 52 reg. I seem to be stuck in finding a part for a price that is not well into the hundreds for a plastic cover with clips.
I hope someone will be able to point me in the right direction (the part is shown below in the pictures). It is the black plastic cover at the front of the main engine, some kind of valve but VW could not give me the correct name and could only get it by me buying a whole unit. Its a 2ltr engine if that helps.

Any Help would be much appreciated, Thanks in advance.

Thanks both I'll give that a try. New to navigating around where to go. navmk4gti yes its a 2.0, great car to drive but having to tape up the part currently due to clips broken and when the tape goes it is hell. Sounds like a fog horn drinking down the road.

Been looking on vagcat.  Can't see it as a seperate component.  Appears to be part of the intake manifold (part number 06A133204AP), that's perhaps why VW were struggling to give you a part number and it was so expensive?  :undecided:  Suggest a trip to local breakers yards.

Hi Mr_Orange,

Thanks for looking into it. They did say I had to buy as a hold part for all it is it's own part, I have been doing some searching just needing someone who is breaking down a MK4 with the same engine. not proving easy. but if you do find any please do let me know.

Many Thanks

Alex

I suspect that part is only available with the manifold, very strange looking engine as well  :undecided:
