Title: Picked up GTI today
Post by: ScottA on 01 March 2012, 23:18
Sorry, no pics yet as I am waiting for someone to send them to me! It's had a full detail, I retrofitted RNS 510 today, half fitted LED interior bulbs, other half to be done tomorrow, there's a rattle from the passenger door which I will sort out tomorrow (rather me do it than the dealers!) and it's missing the tyre pressure monitoring system, even though it was ordered (100% confirmed) and billed by VW to the dealership, so gotta find out what they can do tomorrow. I don't want them to retrofit it as I don't see it as a massive problem. I tried enabling it using vag com in the hope it would show under DIS but nope! Also changed some vag com settings, like XDS to strong, brake assist to strong etc etc. Overall, pretty impressed!

Edit - some pics:

Yeah mate it's not there  and the light doesn't come on either when starting the car....and it's unticked on vag com!

Also the drivers side headlight washer doesn't sit flush.... sigh! New cars    or OCD?

Also I really, really like the GTI standard, the ride and handling is good, I'm used to an A3 on coilovers with uprated ARBs, WALK, bigger brakes etc but the GTI is nice. With a remap it will be perfect (for me)! The only reason I would lower it would be for looks, and I don't want to slam it, just a nice 20-30mm drop. But I am very tempted to just leave it. Time shall tell!

Na don't think they can, nor do I think Scott wants them touching it!

I just mean, I hope they can sort something else for him in replacement...

How do you find brake assist 2? I was thinking of doing this as I hate the standard brakes.

Yes i can concur on this as when i picked my ed 35 up yesterday i also thought it had no tyre pressure monitor but the button was in the glovebox above the airbag switch, you have to get right down to see it.
Very odd place to put it!

Just tried to fit LED's to mirrors and broke the glass

Expensive visit to TPS tomorrow = more money than sense, as I've just been told!

LOL you plonker. Let's us know how the LED's look and if you get any bulb errors.

Well, I'm in 2 minds as to whether to do it or not......

I think you will get bulb errors - not a prob as I have resistors I can stick on there. But I don't know whether it's worth breaking the passenger side and costing even more £££

And if the std bulb goes, I can probably get VW to sort it out. But if the LED was to go (unlikely, but just my sodding luck) then I'd have to pay for new glass again!

But it would look so much better. Every interior bulb is LED now, so it would match.

What to do ? ? ? ? ?

Tpms can be retro fitted idepending on the abs unit fitted.to the car. I turned.it on in mine until I fit the  kit. You just have to turn on the right thing. It's all listed a few times on this forum try a search here.

I have been driving as well, I've done 140 miles! Besides, I enjoy doing stuff to it!

I was thinking that but I guess it's a glove box out jobby, now if it was possible to have the option on DIS then it would be another story!

Really, bloody hell, not good is it!

The dealer has compensated me very fairly IMO.

Thanks guys!

Replaced the mirror today, £39 trade+VAT from TPS. Didn't even bother with LED. I'll leave that I think lol.
