Hi,
I'm new to the forum and have only had my gti for a week!
Mine is a 1990 big bumper model, and so far all is well, but have noticed the front part of the door moulding has come away, and when you open the door, it catches the wing moulding, bending both strips ( and it limits how far door is open).
I don't know how this has happened, but I can't seem to find any info on how to remove this trim?
There appears to be glue behind the strip, and I don't want to cause any damage., as I gather these are now becoming rare items!
Can anyone advise please on removal and refit / repair?
Many thanks in advance,
Pas.

Hi,
Welcome to the forum....
There are 2 ways of removing the strips...
One from the outside using Bojo trim removal tools so as not to damage the door or paint work or my preferred option remove the door card (4 screws on the outer edges, 2 door handle screws, slide off the handle release surround, unscrew the door lock button and remove door pin guide) then pop out the holding clips from the inside of the door.... Stops you damaging the door and more importantly the actual door trim...

Also trim the end of the moulding near the gti badge a few mm. Wont happen again!

Door has possibly dropped on the hinges, reset door and striker pin
