Title: Not starting, faulty throttle housing
Post by: sparky2010 on 01 March 2012, 19:10
Hi, had gone out the other night, car was fine on the way out and come to start the car to go home and did not start for love or money. When I turn ignition on I hear a clicking nosie from the dashboard continuously, I looked under the bonnet and noticed that the throttle is partly opening and closing continuously.

I have tried to read the fault codes but when I try my reader just comes up with error!

I have tried disconnecting the throttle housing lead and turned on the ignition but the clicking from the dashboard continues to click away.

I aussme that there s a major fault with the ecu!

Please help!

Checked the fuses on top of the battery? Earth leads ok? Battery terminals ok/ Battery fully charged?

Right have doubled checked all fuses and have changed the petrol pump relay but still no joy. When I pull the fuse out for the ecu all the clicking stops and when a pull the cable connector out of th thottle housing it all seems ok. So I assume that the throtte housing may be faulty.

I'd say its unlikely the TB, doesn't seem TB related, if anything I'd check:

Fuses (internal and on battery)
Cable to starter is in all good health
Cable to battery
Battery is charges

clicking sounds more like the starter solenoid hasnt enough power, try a jump start?
