Title: Idle control valve (16v)

Does anyone know if they are the same for 8v and 16? I am pretty sure I have a spare 8v one somewhere...

Anyone got any tips on troubleshooting the circuit, its not buzzing.

I have three new temp sensors for the side of the head and another control unit to try, any other possibilities?

Its switched by the microswitch on the throttle, check this is functioning correctly each time the throttle is released for starters. Think the isv box behind centre console also controls over-run valve and cold enrichment valve? etc. Rj is the man for this one though he'll know the full control of it all and how to test/ fault find

Microswitch is working, I know that the temp sensors on the side of the head can cause problems so I have bought them to replace and I have a spare control unit, the car is in primer with no interior so it will take me seconds to try the other control unit.

The valve isn't buzzing when the ignition is on, it used to I am sure

Yeah of the three sensors on head one is temp guage in clocks, one is for ecu to advance ignition (with engine temp), the other may well be to do with isv.. If its open circuit, ie no continuity to earth what so ever it may be causing your problems, just like disconnecting the ecu one will kill the engine and not allow it to restart until it gets a resistance to earth. The dash gauge just switches the water light on and sends the gauge way over range
