I'ts well documented that the MKV isn't the greatest for audio quality (and as an owner I concur). So with a MKVI on my radar, I wondered whether or not things have improved?
-
Probably worse, the Standard RCD310 is probably the best sound, the RNS510 I have is pretty bad.
It all went downhill after the MKIV
I have heard the Dynaudio option is an improvement.

Agree with this, the RCD and RNS are poor but I hear Dynaudio is a huge improvement.

Really?? Have to say I'm surprised and disappointed. How come AUDI get Bose and VW are this poor??
-
I will tell you tomorrow as i have the dynaudio fitted in mine, will also be adding a sub from my mkiv if it doesnt quite hit the mark!
-
The sound is much better than the Mk5, possibly due to the speaker placement. And the dynaudio is great, do a google search and there are endless glowing reviews from golf and scirocco owners. It won't have as much base as the Bose in Audi's but p1sses all over it for quality and clarity. It doesn't sound great from new though, they are proper quality speakers and take time to break in
-
I have standard Audio... and it sounds fine to me. :undecided:
But I'm not really one for fancy-schmancy sound systems.
-
I’m a bit of an audiophile owning a system that cost as much as a GTI so take sound quality quite seriously.
Dynaudio system is very good for a car. Dynaudio is a Danish speaker company making speakers for studios and the high end hifi market so you can’t go wrong. Well worth the extra money.
-
Depends if you are comparing to a early mk5 gti or 07 ish onwards as early models had 10 speakers and was ok for standard but then Vw cut the speakers down to 8 and sound was very poor. So imo rcd310 has similar sound to early mk5 gti's and is better than later ones.
-
I've got the RNS 510 and I don't think it sounds to bad and I listen to quite a bit of music fairly loud at times.

There not, I would much rather have the laid back clarity of midrange the dynaudio has than any bass heavy Audi Blows system.
Bose is crap in every car ive ever heard it in. Thats why its called what it is in the audioworld
-
I like bass heavy so will possibly end up fitting my sub in the boot
-
Will need it. Quite a few with dynaudio have done that.
Unlike the eos and passat which have an 8" in the doors as a 3 way set in the front the golf does with a 6.5" 2way so lowend extension is restricted.
Also dynaudio speakers normally take many many hours to break in before showing there full capability. So don't just judge them by the first listen.
Also there a very laid back sound which some don't like.
-
There does seem to be quite a quality change when you look at the prices.
Standard front bass speaker is £20, Bass speaker for Dynaudio £100
Dynaudio Amplifier £455
I think a retrofit is out of the question
-
I wish i was only paying that for audio
-
would a sub work of my dynaudio amp or would i need a separate one?
did you ever get a sub which fitted in the wheel well snoopy? think i remember you saying you were after one.
-
Some here have just fitted the all on one Pioneer TS-WX11A Sub-woofer
Think SteveP, Am1W and a few others did.
Once ive sorted family issues im going to custom make a box for the passenger side rear wheel arch and do similar to this but in carpet.

You can buy them similar from autoacoustics LINK (http://www.autoacoustics.co.uk/sbn-vg05.htm) and JLaudio. LINK (http://www.jlaudio.com/product/54216.103634.6720.63941.0/GTI)

For now I am just fitting my amped sub box as it is 800w which is plenty, not to worried about boot space as not had any in the mk4 due to the same box will maybe look at getting a nicer amp & sub at a later date
