Title: 8v info needed please on oils wtiches and electric power steering mod
Post by: slimwadey on 28 February 2012, 23:19
Hi all
I have an 89 8v that i just bought. the previous owner has replaced the two oil pressure switches, first on the oil filter housing and the other on the upper right side of the block, are there 3 of them though ?
He replaced them because they were leaking, they are VAG parts but since they were replaced the oil light flashes when you rev the engine anywhere above idle. on idle the light is off
I never get a warning buzzer and the oil level is fine
Tomorrow i will check th oil pressure of the engine with a gauge . can anyone tell me the correct pressure reading at what engine speed and oil temp please
Also what position do the sensors go in , he may have put them in the wrong places

Secondly Has anyone ever installed electric power steering in the mk2
i know i can go with the belt driven version from another model but i really dont want to sp any extra power from the engine, plus i have access to a written off corsa 'D' with full electric power steering setup on the shaft
I know people have done this mod to the Mk1 and 2 escort so i gues it been done on the Mk2 golf
Thanks
Steve

What colour is the switch on the end of the head (with the blue/black wire going to it)? - Should be blue or brown.
What colour is the switch on the oil filter housing (with yellow wire)? - Should be white.

The other thing on the oil filter housing is an oil temperature sender, 'talks' to the MFA in the clocks.
