Title: tailgate lights
Post by: bcarlin on 28 February 2012, 22:45
am i the only one that didnt know the side lights go out when you open the boot  :embarassed:
the computer told me the left hand rear side light bulb was out so when i was changing it i only noticed this.
im not sure why they would set them up to go off when the boot opens ?

I love that feature, it's so the lights don't blind you as you open the boot.

I think it is more related to standard bulb rears as there is more chance of a bulb blowing, when you slam the boot, if it is lit.

a bulb will blow if its not lit as much as it would if it is lit

When the element is hot it is a lot more fragile than when it is cold so they blow much easier when lit.
Like projector lamps which have to cool after they are switched off before you should move it.

Interesting, always wondered what the point was. Do the versions with standard LEDs do this?
