Basicly, I moved out of my property as i had issue's with the land lord for sometime.
When i first moved in to my new/old home the tenancy agreement was written out with me and my partner's name on there. We both read and signed the agreement. After a few day's of living in the property me and my partner split and she left the house so i asked the landlord for a new tenancy agreement with just my name on. I informed the benefit's office of the situation so they cancelled direct debit's too him until a new agreement was written up (I'm not a bum. I'm a full time dad)
Anyway, He is now telling me that I owe him £1040.83p for out standing rent fee's. (Baring in mind the benefit's should have sorted this).
He is now claiming that i had received and signed the new tenancy agreement which i haven't. I'm now being told there is nothing any housing association or anyone can do for me.. Which.. You guessed it.. Me and my 7 month old son are homeless. He is threatening to seek legal advice over the money that's 'owed' to him but surely he is more in the wrong for forging my signature.?
Any advice.?

You will be entitled to free legal aid, I'd recommend you speak to one of their solicitors as it sounds complicated.

I had a similar problem with a tenant. The theiving b*tch took the money for her rent and spent it on fags and booze then blamed housing. Lesson learnt.... dont try to deal with housing on any of these matters simply because they claim there is no issue with paying rent in arrears.
It doesnt work for the tenant or the landlord

I'm just going through this and think I'm in need of a new tenant because of similar urine extraction.
Housing Benefit tenants: just say no.
Sorry nipper - the state isn't there to look after you like school was - you need to do some of it yourself. This would include knowing what rent you've paid when and if you're in arrears.

Yes.. its a b*tch of a situation. If its any consolation I took a previous tenant to court and after an 18 month battle I finally won, despite her trying with a counter claim for the sum of £1300
She now owes me over £3k... which I am entitled to but know I wont get.

Yes, I'm aiming to avoid this sort of bullsh*t.
-
Do you have a copy of the new tenancy agreement? If not he can hold you to the original one.

I looked at other avenues. Even pimping the fatty out... it would never have worked. She smelt of vodka and had too many yellow staines on her. Avoid DSS was an expensive lesson learnt.

My manager`s boyfriend who is a complete ****** had his flat totally destroyed by his tenants cost him five grand to repair the damage and thats not including the rent arrears couldn't happen to a nicer guy

There was no new tenancy agreement written out.

No not at all mate. The only thing i claim is the housing benefit. I am waiting for a letter back from a college as I'm training to be a fire fighter.

the CAB as soon as you can for some free legal advice.
Indeed, as I mentioned in the first reply, you'll more than likely be entitled to free legal aid. They'll be able to point you in the right directions.

Provided you can find out which five minutes they are open each week.
