Title: Parking Sensors and a Head Unit
Post by: redm4lc on 26 February 2012, 18:35
I'm looking to install some parking sensors on my Golf V. Firstly, can this be done by someone whose not experienced? What are the components needed ( price and recommendation - I imagine it'd be VW-made stuff)? Bearing in mind it's a Match spec 2008 model.

Also I'm considering buying a new head unit soon. Either a RNS510 or a Pioneer equivalent, is it a case of simply buying it and installing (plenty of guides online) or do I need something else to help power / accommodate it?

Good stuff! I was worried the battery or something might be insufficient.

Is that 500 brand new / used? What features are included ?

if your cars 2008 then it will have one of the latest can gateaways so battery drain isnt a issue.

The RNS510 am selling is used buit in excellent brand new condition, there is a tiny surface mark on the screen but this is only visible from certain angles and when powered on is unseen...is with a brand new gps reciever comes with latest maps and video in motion enabled (via software)

this is the version C LED screen type not the earlier LCD screen

And ofcourse the unlock code

On ebay there around £550 plus delivery and then u need to pay extra for video in motion and you will need the gps reciever  so the price am selling for is reasonable its 500 delivered next day.

Price is including delivery.

I love it how people think any new LED screen isn't LCD.

All screens are LCD I'm afriad, the LED part is just the BACK LIGHT!

Dont get me wrong, the new displays are far superier, but its just the backlight and perhaps more pixels in this instance.

Wow there's an offer. I'll let you know mate. Can I ask what the phone and tone buttons do? I imagine the former mutes the sound? It is pretty easy to buy extras components for the RNS 510 isn't it, like parking sensors and bluetooth module? Definitely looks the part. Only thing annoying me about it is the fact it can't play DivX.

Oh I see, no worries. I wouldn't be able to budget it in just yet due to some some new tyres and other maintenance for the car. Would have been another month or so. I imagine you'd have sold it by then!!

Why don't you get cobra a0358? Sensors look great on the bumper as they are flash, totally flash.

The kit costs around £90 from vag-shop.co.uk, Ive got mine installed by Professional retrofits, painted etc...
would recommend.
