hi i have a golf gti mk1 and was wanting to know rough price mark i should advertise it for it is in good condition full mot clean interior no history just a couple old mots 15in bbs alloys clocks say 179000milesa but engine and gearbox are all smooth any useful input would be grateful

It really does vary and its very hard to give even a rough price without seeing it. I'm very particular when looking at mk1s as they can easily hide a lot of nastiness.  If you at least post some decent pictures up, that would help.  From what you've said though it could be worth anything between 1 and 2 grand in my opinion but like I said, its very hard to put a price on a car on this way.
