Morning,
VCDS tells me the pre-cat lambda has had it. I can see no wiring issues so am going to replace the sensor.
Sadly, i have got a little stuck.
I cannot for the life of me shift the sensor. I have tried soaking with penetrating oil, giving it a tap with the hammer but all that happens is the removal tool opens and slips off the sensor.
I do not have a heat source but also cannot figure how i would get a flame to the sensor.
Any words of wisdom, tips or comments?

You using an open spanner? Ideally you need something like a brake union spanner, 6 sides with a cut out to go over the wire
They are a nightmare at the best of times due to getting hot/cold all the time

best thing do is take car for a good run so exhaust gets hot and get home jack up car be careful as exhaust will be hot and get spanner on it it should come undone then as heat expands the metal just like warming it up with gas bottles

It just slips open and comes off but the sensor doesn't budge! Not sure if they are usually where mine is but mine is pn the downpipe, near its exit form the turbo so I am struggling a bit for good access too!
I reckon it will end up being a job for the local garage...

Good idea. My main issue with doing that though is that its right next to my mani, so when I slip its gonna be a bit hot! May give it a whirl though.
Garage have said they will do it for £45. Tempting as its taking a lot of my time!

use some gloves lol when i have done one i got exhaust red hot by giving car a good drive and use a good 22mm spanner if no joy nip a tyre exhaust place and ask them to just undo it so you can remove it when u get home or ask them to replace it u as garage will charge a fortune exhaust places properly charge u a tenner :wink:

:rolleyes: Why did I not think of that! Will still be tricky as space very limited where it is. I guess another option is a deep socket instead. thanks for the advise!

As already said, get the engine nice and hot first, it's usually the only way it will come undone.

^^This has worked for me in the past but be carefull as it will be very hot.
