Title: Will my insurance go down at 21?
Post by: The K man on 24 February 2012, 21:58
Currently paying £2700 on a 1.4 mk4 golf. I'm 20 from Manchester, just had a bump (which wasn't in with that price) and got 3 points for driving on my phone.

I understand sky and HIC can't give me an accurate quote but at a guess (with the bump included) however i'll be 21 come my next renewal, would you expect my premium to go up or down?

Thanks a lot

It's not that high to be honest, my 19 year old brother literally cannot get insured for less than £3000 on pretty much anything.

And does your phone still work after driving on it?

I think the main years when insurance drops is 21 and 25. Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm 21, 6 points, 4 years no claims and pay less than £1k on brand new mk6 GTI.

I can't believe insurance quotes are £2000-3000 bloody hell! I've never paid more than £1300 a year on brand new cars since passing. I had a new A3 2.0 TDI Black Edition at 19.

I'm 20 with no no claims bonus and a claim last year and the insurance on my mk3 2ltr 16v is £1300! Think it'll go down to about £900 in the summer. If mine went up to £2/2.5k I wouldn't have a car! Lol

Having passed that depressing threshold, I can assure you the grass isn't greener on the other side of the hill.

Reaching 25 can help drive the price down on the basis that more insurers will quote for 25 years olds so this drives prices down, generally speaking.
