Title: loud banging when turning
Post by: whit on 23 February 2012, 12:22
going round a sharpish bend (low speed) last night heard a very loud bang. honestly thought someone had hit me or thrown a stone!!

rest of journey seemed fine, thought no more of it. (most straight driving)

however next time i turned 90 degrees into a turning the banging started up again.

it seemed every low speed proper turning (90 deg) resulted in this and possibly going over bumps?

otherwise seemed ok.

first thought was steering but then thought it might be a spring but all looked ok. from what i could see CV joints, arms etc looked ok.

little bit of googling suggested engine mount? could this be correct? easy way to test?

if it is is it an expensive job?

thanks

top mount cause alot of banging when broke jack it up and give them a wobble, also if you think its an engine mount give it a shack and see if its got extra play, also check the rubbers
