Title: Mk4 Tdi Wagon
Post by: tdi_blu on 23 February 2012, 00:34
Been on the hunt for a wagon now for a month and was looking at Passats and mk4s but just couldnt find one that ticked my boxes.Anyway ive finally found a decent example with a few extras and im pretty pleased with my purchase. The details are as follows

100bhp Tdi-s Pd engine
Remapped to im told about 130bhp and I can tell as ive still got my Gt-tdi which is 115 and my wagon pulls away from it.
Lowered on springs not to sure height wise but its just right for daily driving
Full stainless steel Powerflow exhaust from the CAT
Some nice air intakes on the front bumper nicer than the standard items
As its the S its also has cruse control which I only discovered after already driving 150miles back home lol
18" BBS CH alloys I belive there genuine as they have on the outer of the rim CH003 not sure if anyone can confirm this for me thxs.

Future plans
Space the wheels out on the rear try and get abit more stance
Full Leather
Anni front splitter
De-badge it on the rear
Black grill and badge
Refurb the alloys a darker colour I think
Change the faces on my clocks to Anni style like my current Gt-tdi has
Fit my HID kit
US style side repeaters on the bumper

Im sure there will be other stuff along the way and ive got the bug for this one now to try and make it look better see how it goes.Few pictures from the advert but ill get some better shots up tomorrow thanks for looking..

I belive you can buy them in the states with the Bora front end and they do look really nice but I like the front on it as it is so ill just leave it up front.Never had a problem with my HIDS I only use 6k which isnt the bright compared with some ive seen and I make sure my lights are the correct level unlike some cars ive seen where the light level is way to high causing fellow drivers to be blinded thats not how I roll each to there own on that one.I did manage to get a few jobs done yesterday swapped the 6 disk cd player over out the Gt,fitted my Parrot, fitted mk5 Golf rear wiper,Vortex front splitter and HIDs in.Ive now got a new problem my back drivers door has decided it dont want to open Im not sure why but also my front drivers door the interior light dont come on when I open the door and Ive been told this is due to the micro switch in the door lock its self so im working on getting that sorted. The cars steering wheel is a little off centre and its just had a new clutch and flywheel friend thinks it could just need adjusting at the ball joint and re tracking up if they have had the gearbox off so ill get that looked at saturday all being well.Im still undecided on the wheels as they seem pretty common on these wagons yet I havent seen a wagon on RS6s so not sure if to swap them what do you guys think BBS or RS6?

Managed to get a few jobs sorted today when the car had its MOT a few weeks back it had an advisory on one of the track rod ends so I got 2 new ones had them both changed guy checked the wheel alignment and adjusted the tracking drives staright now.Had a look underneath all good no nasty surprises and it turns out its got JOM shocks all round not sure what the springs are im guessing JOM to.Pickesd up 2 new door locks for the drivers rear door and drivers door guy removed them off a 2003 Golf so ill get them fitted next week.Found out what the strange creaking sound in my door turns out the door hinges needed abit of WD40 on them and alls good now nice easy fix.Fitted some 5mm spacers on the rear dont look to bad as I think if I put some 10mm on might start to catch on the arch and I cant be having that. Also had my clock faces changed there like R32 style just need to get some silver rings now to finish them off.Still got to remove the rear badges and a few other little jobs but slowly getting through it few piccys.

My next car!

Roll on April, looking mint mate. So is it the S that's kitted up? Or is it just some are, some aren't? I want a later one and am happy to pay for it. Early MK4's are total headaches.
Title: Re: Mk4 Tdi Wagon
Post by: tdi_blu on 28 February 2012, 01:16
Cheers mate  I think the S is pretty standard mine has all the usual bits and cruse control plus you can operate the radio and cd player off the steering wheel.I would think the SE would have a few more extras but my car has more than my Gt-tdi had anyway plus its alot cooler  Hope you get one in April be nice to see another mk4 Wagon on here

How about tinting the bottom half of your rear lights  :undecided:
Title: Re: Mk4 Tdi Wagon
Post by: tdi_blu on 29 February 2012, 06:36
Yeah the BBS looked really well but ive seen wagons on ED38 with those wheels on so I just thought it looks a little different but Im happy. The rear lights I know where you mean the little clear bit yeah spose I could tint them if I did I would do them all red orjust hold out for some US spec ones but to be honest ive got a list of stuff in my head I want to do but all in good time in other words when Ive got the spare cash  thanks again for comments

Thanks for the comments  had abit of a nightmare today well nothing to bad left the car with my friend at vw to replace the front drivers door lock and the rear door lock. When he came to do the rear door lock he some how shatered the rear glass in the door he said it was the first time ones ever ppped on him.Anyway managed to get another glass for it and the door lock I bought was faulty for the rear door so got that changed hopefully get it finished tomorrow.Next problem ive found funny one some times at random when I start the car the wipers do a sweep or when I turn the lights on it does a sweep anyone had a sinlar problem ?? thanks again

Dodgy wire behind the dash??

I saw a Bora earlier, thought of your car straight away cause of the talk of a front end, then had a little brain wave...R32 front end on a wagon...hello  :smug:

wheels look spot on mate , i would leave the black mouldings alone they break it up nice, plus getting rid of the locating holes in the doors is a big job
Title: Re: Mk4 Tdi Wagon
Post by: tdi_blu on 02 March 2012, 19:43
Thanks for the comments finally got the locks sorted and new rear window fitted, got it home took the door card off as I could hear glass rattling about so vacumed that all out.Cars locking fine now and the drivers door and door light work when you open the door plus it now makes the sound when you leave your lights on and open the door.I also got my mate to do the anti hyjack and beep on the alarm on the vw laptop only one I cant get done is where the windows shut when you press the alarm button not sure if anyones had it done on there mk4?I also removed the rear TDi badge and sorted my rear boot panel as I could hear a clip rattling about in there took it off reffited and secured it correctly.Next job is find out why my wipers do the random sweep so think ill have a look into it tomorrow if the weathers ok.Im also going to have a oil change as its due and check the air and pollen filters.Think im just going to get the rear and front valence colour coded and as leave the door strips as pointed out would need to fill the holes in the door and I dont really want to start having loads of paint work done.Im going to change the RS6s really dont know what wheels to go for I really like R32s plus Longbeach but all in good time thanks again for the feedback and comments..

Ive taken the R32 18s off today as i was stick of the harsh ride they give and gone with standard 16" rims , lost the look but it drive so much nicer. I must be getting old lol. I do have a pic of the Golf est but no idea how to upload pics yet !

Got soaking wet this morning but had to get it done as im out most of today, anyway picked my leathers up last night and really pleased there spot on really mint condition.Only thing I had to alter was the rear bench and airbag plugs the rest went in a treat.I also got a nice 4 motion gear knob and some more net optic dash trim which all went in this morning. What I like is the theme inside the car its kinda half black and half grey which looks spot on even though ive got some black door panels and other trim im gonna leave it as it is.Ill throw some pictures up later but im off out for now thanks.

Cheers Stow removed all the mudflaps yesterday looks better I think without them,I also went and priced up some BBS Lm rep 18" with 215,40,18 tyres so I can space them out and got offered a really decent deal as I know the chap who owns the company.Only thing that puts me off is the bolts tend to spider after time and keeping them clean lol so think I might just leave them and either change the profile on my current wheels and colour or just look for a different set of wheels around the £600 mark would be my budget have to see.

Havent updated in a while had loads on at work and still sorting stuff out with my wedding.Anyway the car was due in at the paint shop about 2 weeks ago but had to re-book it due to him being so busy. The cars in tomorrow 100% so thats good finally get the markers fitted and the rear quarter sorted. As I already mentioned im still very undecided about having the front and rear valence paint well colour coded silver the same as the car.I was also thinking of having the grill done gloss black aswell so im still stuing on these but at the min its looking like im gonna go that way.I have done a few bits in the last week nothing to big really went a bit mad with the old carbon vinyl re-done all the centre console trim, front badge and the outer door pillars the bit between each window if you get my drift lol for a first attempt im pretty happy looks pretty cool.I also fitted some 10mm hubsentric spacers on the rear and some 5mm upfront beef the wheels out abit again pretty happy looks abit more aggressive plus I finally got that horrid silver GOLF badge off .Ill update once its out the painters fingers crossed the rubstip comes out well few piccys and thanks for looking

Fitted my new lights today is the pouring rain wasnt good  Ive now decided not to install the HID kit I had and fitted some very expensive bulbs from Halfrads  :angry:Ive also replaced my light switch with the switch that has front and rear fogs as the new lights have got fog lights installed. These are still not working and not to sure why I thought it would be plug and play but maybe a relay is required not sure ill look into it.Theres a little condensation in the drivers light as it was pissing down but other than that im very happy how they have turned out thxs for looking...

Well had a really busy few days cars been on a few missions roughly about 800 miles in the last 3 days and it never missed a beat so pleased with that. Finally got my Replica Anni spoiler fitted which im not that happy with if im honest. The fit wasnt great but its not to bad now theres also in a few places the surface is a little uneven hard to explain but regardless it still looks better than my Jom but the Jom is a far better fit.I will still go for a genuine splitter when I find one which could be some time ive also ordered some new amber side indicators go with the side makers and thats it really im not lowering the car anymore as it drives sweet and its a pain lowering mk4s more than 40mm plus the wheels are staying they work well now with the car.Few pictures thanks

Well been a while since I updated my thread had lots going on with my wedding due this month so I have only really done a few bits and bobs as you do.Ive been thinking of selling the car I always seem to get so far into a car then get board and decided to sell up lol but ive been having strong urges for a Black VR6 Highline lol my dad just looks a t me like im a nutter going from derv to 2.8 lol still Im not sure yet if I would go that route.Anyway recent jobs well fitted my new R-Line gear knob looks smart, new brushed alley dials for round my dials as the last ones were cheapo plastic, new all red rear lights from germany and ive been slowly changing all the trim inside the car to black think im getting just board why I started doing the insdie lol.Few pics and thanks for looking

Just take it out and leave it in the airing cupboard all night, see if that help clear it up. It maybe a build of moisture over years.

I'm a fan of roof racks...Unless you do what my dad did and secure them using 254265432 cable ties

Perhaps message the seller, if you bought them brand new that is. See if you can exchange, no matter how bad the seals are they should last longer than that I'd imagine.  :undecided:

Been wanting to get rid of the twin exit back box for a while now as it dont go with how I want the back end to look eventually. So got it removed and had a nice single exit pipe made more derv style as its down sweeping and concealed I prefer it anyway and its sounds more throaty now so not bad for £40

Haven't done to much lately as my wedding killed my bank account off big time but now its all done and dusted and I had some pennies left I decided to get my brakes sorted.New disks and pads on the front and rear was in order so got it all done on Monday drove it away and didn't notice it at first but next day when I was braking lightly over 50 mph I was getting steering wheel wobble which I didn't have before.Phoned the garage let them know and they want it back in to check every things ok but I think its a warped disk or disks as when you slow right down you can kinda feel it grip lose grip if you know what I mean like warped disks.Anyway its in today so hopefully have it put right so once that's done no more real big jobs to be done as all the major servicing has been done.So my next task after my Hols I thinking of doing is recovering my headlining and door pillars etc, never done it before so should be fun been having a read up online and just looking at some different colors themes etc.

Yeah there not the best wheel to do as a home refurb and a sh!t to clean aswell.I done the last wheel last night thank god so thats one job done that ive been meaning to do for some time.Next up is my rear door cards which are still grey as 4 door hatch back door cards dont fit the rears on estates.Ive got a couple of options either try and swap the hatch back door cards ive got as in swap the tops over as thats the difference the hatch back door cards are longer at the top so I was thinking of swapping them over but im not to sure if this can be done?Or I can just buy some dye for the PVC and dye them not to sure what dye to use on the fabric part though anyone know if just normal fabric dye would do the trick?Once ive sorted the door cards it will crack on with the roof lining also.Few pictures of the car sitting on its new coloured wheels thanks for looking...

Well I thought I would keep this upto date as I have done a few jobs on the Wagon.Replaced the thermostat and tempreture sensor as my temp gauge wasnt right so thought I would just change the two, tempreture gauge spot on now.Allard EGR delete fitted that was fun to change had a mare at first but sorted now.Ive also purchased some genuine R32 door handles which are all spotless and finish my doors off really well.Just waiting on R32 dash trim to arrive ash tray, heater surround, cover where you plug in,cup holder and a new cradle as mine is a one where you cant change stuff around.Ive painted one of my roof grab handles which if im honest was a pain to do so think im gonna just buy some black ones less agro  Still got to do the headling in black if I ever get round to it as I might sell it come August im thinking of buying either a Mk5,T4 or a nice new MTB if I buy a bike ill keep the Wagon.Pictures to follow once all my dash trims in thanks.

n't resist  so should have them in the next few days as it was a Buy it now luckily instead of bids ill post a few pictures once there on and Ive give the old girl a good clean.Got some more VHT paint aswell gonna do the rest of my plastics inside the car and Im going to do the caddy door cards as Ive been busy with that fitted Touran rear carpets and mk5 seats

I dont really bother to much updating this thread but I have been splashing miney on the old gurl as Im now keeping the car and basically giving it a little TLC to get her right back upto standard.Jobs that need doing as follows

New coilovers (FK street now fitted drives way better than the old JOMS)
4 Moition ARB (Now fitted massive improvement and no more banging drive shafts)
Steering rack needs replacing (Had this done but 2nd hand rack is slightly creaky so replacing it)
New ball joints and Wish bone bushes (All done)
Front end has various stone chips and ive got some marks on the front so im gonna have the whole front end painted along with all the black strips colour coded front and rear.August this is taking place.
Either new wheels or my own powder coated a deep blood red colour im still undecided.
Headling recovered
Anniversary rear valance but estate one Germany import

Thats it pictures will follow once shes done thanks.

Some more jobs sorted new tyres all round went for a 215,35,18 up front as my 225,40,18 would rub inside when turning sometimes. I was going to replace the alloys but found CH Reps in 5x100 with 9" rears pretty hard to get so decided to just have a full refurb on the alloys and they have come up really well im just after some red center caps now. Drive wise since Ive replaced the suspension,ARB and tyres it drives so much better it don't catch at all and its still settling so I may drop it a tad more soon.Jobs left to do

Steering rack to be replaced
Paint front end
Replace side skirts with genuine Anniversary ones and paint
Headlining recovered
Replace a few interior parts to freshen things up inside.
