Title: mk2 16v coil

hi can anyone post a pic of there coil on a 16v mk2 please.  Think I've wired mine up wrong.  Also I have a little box with a wire comiong oput of it under the coil.  The wire isnt plugged in and im not sure what its for,  Cheers

cheers mate,  doesnt help me too much ,  you any idea what the little black box on the bulkhead with a wire coming off it is for/.

its for stepping up voltage to the spark plugs

i've had mine go... i hear they're in two parts.. the actual coil and something behind

apparently most often the other bit is what breaks on them, not the coil itself..

and some have this combined, some dont..


not sure how much different is on a mk3 valver..

but its basically a little silver box stuck on the firewall..

looks very different to the picture posted

thats really interesting, thx ity would explain why i am having problems starting my motor and losing power etc.  The box is small and has a wire coming off it with a connector on it, the question is where does the connecor connect to???/  Cheers

Erm, just noticed.... the pic posted is mine! Its off a '89 MkII Driver 1.6. Prob why its different?  :smiley:
