Hello all,
I have a Golf MK 5 GT 140 TDI, Just thought i'd have a look under the bonnet to check my screenwash when I pulled up earlier, left the engine running for a minute while I did it to cool off the turbo and then I noticed a gentle hum sound coming from the left of the engine bay. I thought nothing of it but when I turned the engine off the humming/beeping continued for about 10-15 seconds under the bonnet and then the sound just cut out all together.
What is this sound? Electric pumps? My car's already in the garage tomorrow so would be great if anyone has a quick answer if it's something to worry about.
Cheers,

Sorry to double post but I'm at the garage in 30 mins and could really use some expert advice on this so I don't get cheated!

I believe its a coolant / oil pump. Mine makes the same noise and it hasn't blown up yet

Thank you for the reassurance! Seem to always have something worrying me on my golf. Probably due to finding out the hourly labour charge VW charge!

Best find yourself a good local independent then :afro:
My car only goes into Audi for anything major; all minor stuff like servicing etc I'll do myself with the help of my mates
