Hi, I'm new to this site and currently doing research on the Golf GTi. Just wondered what you guys thought was the best GTi and why? Any feedback will be greatly appreciated! Thanks

By common consensus its the Mk2 16v.
-
Mk6
-
Mk 6 ed35...
-
Mk3 16v........ :lipsrsealed:
-
LOL :D :D Im going to love this thread.
MK5 GTI, simple as that.
-
mk5 GTI
mk4 1.8T GTI
mk2 16v GTI
Then the rest...
-
......not a mk4 unless you count the R32.........not a mk3 unless you count the VR6.
MK2 16v is probably the best. Some people, myself included prefer the mk3 though as they are more comfortable.

Hmm. When I list in order the traits of a GTI, comfort ain't at the top.
MK2 16V = WIN.

Mk1 Golf Gti by a long shot way ahead of its time and it set the bench mark for all hot hatches,mk2 16v is good but still not as fun as a mk1.

People with Mk4's will say Mk4's, people with Mk2's will say Mk2's, people with Mk6's will say Mk6's and so on and so forth.
The best GTI is the one that satisfies YOU.

Well yes, if you have low standards and no self respect.
Bit like Jodie Marsh.

Mk1 1.8 campaign is the "Best GTI"
Mk2 16v a very close second
-
mk1 with a 1.8t would be best
-
now i drive a mk 4 1.8t but have always had a soft spot for the mk2 16v big bumper car and would love one as a project, but the gti is a cult car in any of its form and the most famous hot hatch of all time and to be honest is still going strong so vw are doing something right with the recipe.
