Title: What bolt on mods are required for stage 2 r-tech
Post by: ryan360 on 18 February 2012, 19:51
Hi just a quick question, i currently have a AGU 1.8t 20v a3, (k03) with a 3" decat turbo back exhaust, Cold air induction cone filter, vr6 clutch, and a new dump valve coming soon.

At first i was just going to go with a stage 1 remap, but would it be worth getting a stage 2 with the mods i currently have?

And also, is a fmic required for stage 2 or can u run the standard smic.

Thanks Ryan :)

Hi mate for stage 2 you could do with a silicone tip pipe, and boost hoses.would deffo get a k03s.as for i/c side mount would b ok but fmic would be better imo

Have a look through my spec list to give yourself an idea, link in my sig below

Standard SMIC can be run but you risk not getting the most out of the map. I would say an uprated SMIC at the least is needed

I am a fan of getting a SMIC as they require no aditional pipework and hassle etc... BUT surely as they are much deep in dept, a great big cube intercooler will create lag as its all being condensed, where as Audi TT have two intercoolers one at each end including a crosspipe so its gradually condensed down...Which is why I think a FMIC would give best results????

Anyone compared or had experience with SMIC VS FMIC?
