Just bought myself a nice golf gti ,few little issues to fix,one of them being echaust manifold how hard is this to do?
-
A total and utter ball ache.............
-
Basically. Ha.
-
Its a total b*tch if you dont snap any studs, its a complete nightmare if you do.... enjoy
-
Thanks lol
Does anything need to be removed before doing the job or can you get to the bolts from above the engine?
-
Underneath

its a c*nt to do trust US!! you got to remove the gearbox mount and front mount and the rear engine mount will need to be loosened use an engine crane or a jack on the sump, pull the engine forward as much as possible and then bend over and get F*CKED!!! lol it will take over 3 hours to get the nuts off, take the intake manifold off.

What i do is disconnect the engine mounts, and hold the engine on a jack with the front up on stands, you can tilt the engine right forwards as far as it will go (without snapping stuff) you need access on top and underneath, take the heat shield off, then the manifold, its actually much easier to take the intake manifold off while your there, just incase you need to remove studs or anything.

A lot easier from underneath with the car on a ramp.
