Title: watery exhaust

my exhaust seems to hold a fair amount of water and when the car is at temp my exhaust effectively turns into a massive kettle and smokes like a trooper.
the exhaust isnt the most solid of things and is been replaced soon but is it possible with all the snow and heavy rain that the exhaust is pulling moisture in and in turn settling in the exhaust? :huh:

car is 2.0 8v AGG, cheers

I'd like to know an answer too. I drive my car hard every day and it still does hold a fair bit of moisture in the exhaust.

Water is a by-product of burning petrol . It usually appears as steam , but with a cold exhaust , can be seen as water . If you're not loosing any water , there's none in the oil and no oil in the water ,then provided it stops when the exhaust is hot , then I'd say it's normal,i allways think its the sign of a healthy combustion,ever followed a honda or a nissan petrol car?they allways piss out alot of water and im allways amazed at how much comes out!

water level has never dropped and ive only just done an oil and coolant change,  no signs of fouling. yeah ive noticed alot of newer cars and how much water they pass. am hoping its just a combination oh cold weather and short trips.

Yeah ,cold weather and short trips will let water acumulate,try taking it on a long run now and again as the water will soon rot your exhaust out.

Its something silly like every 5l of fuel makes 1l or something like that of water, on a cold day it condenses in the zaust, and spits water out,  i wouldnt be worried, i run cars for hours in my workshop and they still spit water out. 

If you loose coolant, and it smells sweet,  start worrying  :wink:

Just found that online. Something I didn't know! Guess when the weather is mild-hot the water can't be seen, in the same way breath can't be seen in summer but it can in winter!
