I've just whipped out the factory fit Gamma CD and radio units, replaced with a nice Kenwood DPX503u. Problem is, where did my favourite CD go?
Went looking and I've foolishly left it inside the Gamma CD deck! I've taken the covers off the player and the CD is physically retained. There's a pair of metal plates popped up after it was inserted. Is there any way to manually eject a disc with these? Must be something can be pressed to open the mechanism.
Here is the unit with the front trim removed. See the two metal plates in CD slot:

I really cannot bear the thought of stripping the Kenwood out to access the power supply.

Give it 12 volts and eject the cd.

Where can I get a power source?

Car battery - most systems will automatically eject a cd when give it power after it's been disconnected.

Got a 12V DC power supply from an old scanner and cut the plug off the end. A couple of paper clips later, fingers crossed and hey-presto the CD popped straight out. Thanks mate

This has made me think. I have a handful of CDs missing and a Gamma CD stuck out in a box in the garage - must give it some juice and see if it gives up anything

Give it some 12V and it will spit it straight out!

if you have a jump pack you can use that too

Cool thanks, so its actually on the multi pin plug. I had thought it was the 2 pin one. Will give it a whirl thanks. I'd not seen that thread before; good stuff.

Not having any luck. I have plugged in an ISO adapter and applied 12V+ to permanent live no 1 (pin 7 red) grounded to pin 8. I get the red flashing security light on the TIM button. If I then apply 12V+ also to ignition switched live (pin 4 yellow), the red flashing light goes out but nothing else happens. I notice in that diagram that there is a permanent live 2 (pin 5 blue) - that would normally be a power out rather than in on an ISO lead so I haven't applied 12V to that.
Any more clues?
Thanks
Stuart

OK - you do need to connect power to both permanent lives. That worked. No CD, but at least I know the new owner will be getting a working unit.
Thanks all.
