Hi just got my GTI and noticed when its stationery it only revs to 4000 revs ok when moving is this norm

Can you confirm your opening statement please, just so we know that you actually said 4k RPM when stationary?
Do you mean 400 RPM?

Yes thats normal not that ive tried it but a lot of new cars are like that. I remember thinking i broke merc A class once because it would only rev to 3500 when in neutral.

Yes it revs to 4K when stationery I did think this was norm

I'm assuming you're talking about a manual?

If not and you have a DSG, then the revs are limited at 4k rpm from the factory.

This must be change in 2010 as my 59 plate GTI MY2010 revs beyond 4k when stationary so did my ED30. I had Polo GTI 6R on a 60 plate and this would not rev beyond 4k.
