Hi peeps,
As the title suggests I'm a newbie here. I've managed to put all of one post on here so far! Anyway, I have a lovely condition mk4 gti 150. I noticed while washing it yesterday the spoiler on the left hand side has some play in it, as if the glue has started to go. The sealant has gone too as if you push it down water comes out. So the question is do I need to pull the whole thing off and re glue/seal it, can I just glue/re seal that corner. Obviously I'm nervous about doing anything to it, it's also wet the whole time and never warm enough for the stuff to dry. Finally, I bought some araldite glue and some separate silicone sealant from halfords. Will this do the trick?
Anyway, thanks in advance to anyone that can point me in the right direction.
To anyone in the Taunton area Somerset, a big hello (there are a few r32's I've seen down here, maybe someone on here....).
Cheers,
Vekio

Cheers for the welcome. I spoke to a work colleague today who's an ex panel beater and body shop guy. He said some of the spoilers have clips and some don't. Have you any idea if the mk4 gti spoiler has clips?

Welcome to the forum
I would try and get the spoiler off without breaking anything and re seal it but use two screws at each end to keep it tight.

Well, today I took the car to a local vag specialist body shop. I washed it yesterday along with my missus's mk2 mx5 (bloody love that car....) and found a paint bubble on the front offside wing! The chap who served me recognised me as he lives on my road. He told me it may be still covered under vw's rust warranty. Fingers crossed. He's also sorting the spoiler. I figured I'm never going to get the time or weather to do it myself and i would be gutted if I messed it up. I also ordered 4 toyo proxes this avo too. Expensive week this is turning out to be!

Just in case anyone is interested the spoiler's been done for £30. It's been sealed and rebolted on. The bodyshop told me the wing had been repaired before and would need to be replaced. They quoted £550 to do it with a new panel! I've spoken to my local vw dealer who fobbed me off without even looking at it. I obviously failed to mention it's been repaired before. My plan is to call in and demand they look. An 03 plate with just 80k should not be rusting surely?!!

Hi people, thanks for the hello's! I've put Toyo Proxes all round yesterday and it's like driving a different car. I also took it to the local VW dealer and demanded to see their paint specialist. He came out and looked at both wings and the boot handle which also has some rust, took paint depth readings on all panels and photos. He said he would be sending it off to head office in Exeter and I would hear mid next week. I've got my fingers crossed.....!
