Post by: pbaronmk1cab on 14 February 2012, 15:05
My driveshaft on my mk3 gti 16v decided to disconnect itself from the gearbox flange thanks to the bolts working loose but i cant see a part ref for the cork sealing gasket ? anyone know it or anywhere i can pick them up from thats not in a kit with the boot etc

There is a rubber flange that comes with the CV joint set, but never heard of a cork one.  :undecided:

Yes its cork,  was changed to rubber or from rubber in 95 iirc,  after market ones vary, either way its a single use item as they generally fall appart.

What i do is clean it all up, apply liquid gasket and refit.   You can also buy gasket paper and cut your self one, but you might need to take the shaft off for a template.

Rmachines-cheers mate mines fell apart with bits missing, never thought of using something like liquid gasket or getting some cork/gasket paper
