Hi guys, hand brake stopped working on the left rear brake caliper spent an hour or so taking the cable of the car to replace it with a new one.
realised when i got it off that the cable wasnt snapped
had a further look around tha caliper and the mechanism that the cable attaches to on the caliper seems to have seized  and now no longer rotates.
the link on bentley is as below, its fig`7-9

any idea guys what gone on wrong and can it be fixed?
i dont really want to spend 50 notes  on caliper if it can be refurbed somehow.
cheers in advance

I took mine off and left them in a bucket of diesel overnight, freed them up a treat. Although saying that they did seize on me when i was driving and caused the car to flip.
So i guess it depends on whether you want to risk it or not.

Cmom 50 notes is 50 notes not much of a price on ur heart beating buy new!

the brakes its self works fine with the foot pedal just not with the hand brake leaver.
i've never taken a caliper apart does the piston come out somehow so i can see what happened to the mecanism behing that pushes it out ?

well, i had one from a breakers, it was 35 quid i think, and it sized also by the time the next mot came around...... :undecided: ECP worked out the same ish price for a shiny furbed one  which sailed thru the mot

i guess theres no way to stop the loss of fluid once i disconnect the caliper?

I had seized rear callipers repeatedly over the years, they would last about a couple of years and cost a fortune. Then I someone suggested I used mk3 callipers which were a lot cheaper, I had them fitted 4/5 years ago and have never had a problem since.
