Title: The Success of Golfgti.co.uk
Post by: mrwotto on 21 May 2005, 19:55
We now have 4661 members on golfgti.co.uk, which considering it has only been running for a few years, and I can remember it being less than 1000 members!  is a pretty good achievment by JV

Clubgti's forum has 6907 members and there forum has been running for considerably longer and has more publicity than golfgti.co.uk.

Anyway what I am getting at is that I am proud to be a member of golfgti.co.uk, as it is a far more friendly forum than golfgti (IMO).

So cheers JV, and to the other moderators and admininstrators, who help keep this site running, and keep it running for our benefit

I am sure someday soon we will have more members than clubgti

Thats because club gti is sh!t, and falling apart from the inside out.

I know these things.

Hence my move over here, everyone is a lot LOT more genuine and doesn't act two faced or stab you in the back about things.

In possibly the worse case of Brown Nosing yet Wotto ends up just a bit to close to JV for comfort.

Title: Re: The Success of Golfgti.co.uk
Post by: Agreeable Slick on 22 May 2005, 14:51
Nope, mini hitler was gaggin to do it from the start and whilst i am revising for degree level exams everyone seemed to want everything within 5 minutes of asking.

Plus everyone on the forum was quick to jump on the bandwagon to complain but when asked if they wanted to help quickly shut up.

So in conclusion i chucked it in, it's falling apart within the committee anyhow, so cannot see much changing ever if at all. Hence giving the whole place a wide berth.

"BIG UP the man", as I have heard the youth of today say...

Yeah its come along way. I was something like the 100'th member when I first joined back in January 2003, its certainly changed a lot since then. Been through our ups and downs but have to say that it is ticking along very nicely now, a really friendly and informative place to be. Well done to everyone for making the forum what it is today, afterall, its the members that make it what it is..........but a big 'thumbs up' to jv for starting this monster in the first place.........bet you never envisaged this when you started it all up

This site rocks - I tried most of the VW websites last May/June 2004 and found this club/forum and people to be the most friendly and helpful and thus I don't go anywhere else now.

Thanks alot JV for starting this off and everyone who has helped me out over the year and for just chatting for the hell of it. The love for the VW's is amazing - we all make golfgti.co.uk what it is. GREAT.

it has gone from strength to strength, i stumbled upon here a few years ago in my quest to find and electric window switch!! back then it was very quiet, infact so quiet i didnt really use it for about 6mths - but on returning it seemed to be booming so sorta stuck around!!

thing i like about golfgti.co.uk is that no matter whether you are a total newbie or part of the woodwork, everybody is treated equally and there is none of the clicky-ness which goes on other forums

Due to work, I've not been around a lot recently, but it really goes to show how this place is taking off now. There are so many names on here that I dont recognise, yet seemed to have been made to feel at home. It does feel good to know that I am part of something as popular as this site, and that I have made a few friends from various meetings, and social gatherings. I'm hoping to get along to some more shows next year, but I this year is going to be a little difficult, by which time I expect this site to be huge Globally.
I don't think the thanks should only extend to Admins and Mods though. Everyone on here has an effect on the way this site is perceived by new and potential members, so well done to everyone for making the GolgGTI.co.uk experience what it is.
