Which brakes does my 16v have? It's a N reg 95 but it has the 'facelift' rounded indicators
(I know I could just go and messure them but it's dark and raining and I was just wondering really)
Cheers
Josh

Well my 97 8v has 288. Id of thought yours would be the same? Might be wrong..
-
I had a 95 16v with the later indicators and it had 280mm.
You can tell by looking. The 288 has a long round piece of metal that goes over the caliper. Can't think what it's called but it pushes on the pad.

The retaining clip? Same as on alot of ford brakes?
-
Right okay, will have too have a look, anyone got some pics?

kinda crappy pic, but you get the idea on the Retaining clip settup

Cheers, il have a look in the light tomorrow
Thans for the help

Its actually an anti-rattle clip. On your standard Longbeaches, they will be very close to touching the caliper on 288s. Tyres fitters put the flat weights on when I had new tyres, and they were clipping the caliper to give you an idea how close they are.

Off topic and not wishing to worry you but they look to be the wrong wheel bolts, reps tend to use aftermarket bolts as a norm.
-
How can you tell there reps btw?
Well i havnt had any issues with them so far and they torque up okay

They are 5x100 so will be reps, check the wheels and see but I suspect they are square taper, standard bolts are radius fit.
-
Well the wheel nuts are tapered, and so is the wheel if thats what you mean?

standard up top, after market bottom. Iv n(http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7177/6876554151_dfaa873979_b.jpg) (http://www.flickr.com/photos/59145949@N03/6876554151/)

As per tweeds pic, you should be running the bottom bolts but check the wheels and see if the bolt holes are the same taper, stange you have no spiggot rings they might be direct fit however.
-
Yeah they are direct fit

When you get chance, take a bolt out and check the seat.
