Hi all!
I have a MK3.5 cabby, i know its a dirty mk4, but we all know is a MK3 underneath really so i hope its still welcome in this section...
Anyway, it had slightly warped discs and made a slight clunk/squeak when braking, with the rotation of the wheel, so i stuck on new discs and pads, and one top mount as there was play in it, since then its got worse and worse over about 2000 miles, to the point where its not even when im braking now, it just goes squeak... squeak...squeak with the wheel rotation, but when the brake is applied it goes THUD...THUD...THUD. No play in anything, although the o/s strut mount is worn, but the noise is the n/s. Any ideas??? (Its an auto 2.0L 8V btw)
I have had it running on axle stands and the noise seems to go away, so very hard to identify. No play in any bushes, ball joints or bearings, and no noises from CV Joint on lock (btw its all MK3 running gear)
cheers.

From what you have said there. It sounds like it's driveshaft related

Yea i would say drive shaft, but why does it get so much worse under braking, thats what i dont get... must be! Was wondering if it was to do with the gearbox but cant see it beng the diff and other than that, nothing it can be really.
