Title: Sat Nav update ?
Post by: golfmanj80 on 13 February 2012, 17:06
My car is a August 2009 with 510/sat nav but only 5 places post code, I understand that later cars have 7 place post code ?

Does the dealer load up a generic disc onto the cars hard drive when new ? having the one disc for all cars they sell ?

If I go into my local VW dealer and 'smooze' them, or pay a small sum from my son's inheritance  would they be able to load up my car with the latest CD ?

I don't know about getting the dealer to update your maps, mine certainly wouldn't, although he said if there was a fault during warranty he would reload.

But I obtained a V8 disc from here

If your Sat Nav software version is 2680 or later, then it updates to full 7 digit postcode as well as speed cameras.

Mine is a March 2010 (built) car and it updated fine.

I have been told that you hold the 'Setup' button down for 30 secs and this will display the version information.

Didn't work for me though and I asked Steve P when he fitted my bluetooth car kit.
