Title: Murraymints mk3 valver (not for much longer)
Post by: murraymint on 12 February 2012, 23:27
Right as some of you may know I bort a mk3 gti 16v on Saturday. I thought I may as well start a thread for it, there's not going to any major engine rebuilds or 'scene' points with expense parts/wheels and air ride, just cleaning up and doing little bits. Want to lower it a bit, some nice wheels when i have some more money and want to clean up the engine bay, maybe polish the manifold etc, but im sure as i do more bits to it ill want to keep going lol. So enjoy

First thing I have planned is check under the sills for rust and just ordered the paint to refurb the wheels

Cheers

Cheers Wayne

So first problem happened today, ws sat init on my lunch break and after getting out to go back to work, I go to lock it, turn the key, the lock kinda clicks then nothing, the key just turns. Went round to the passenger side and it locked all the doors including the drivers door fine, so hopefully it's only one of those thick wire things that has slipped out of position so gotta take to door apart to investigate. Was gunna do it tonight but it's fricking raining.

Little update, finished work early so thort I'd do a lil bit to the car :).

As you can see the bottom of my front grill is very badly stone chipped so Thort I'd spray it

Took it apart and primed it up

See if you can find a cheap second throttlebody somewhere and then home port it with a file.

Could find you a few more ponies, although you really want to get a tubular manifold for it, as it'll find you a significant boost for the motor.

Then a lightened flywheel, which you'll feel a massive difference in responsiveness from.

All in due course, obviously.

That's a plan

Grill looks better, looks like it needs a buff up  :undecided:

Well....... No lol but I have good reason! I bort my dads mk2 Jetta off him last week  and I'm going to put the abf lump out of the golf into the Jetta! Bin talking to a couple people on the mk2 forum about the conversion and I now have a list of everything I need  I've already bort some g60 brakes for it (safety first ). Was gunna start a thread when I started the conversion as i probably wont start doing it for about a month as I'm going to do it at my mates house but he's gotta finish his mk1 caddy first
