But can a dumpvalve be fitted to a 'ahu' tdi????
-
Yes
-
Not really diesels don't tend to like them
-
you would need a micro switch to tell the vacuum soliniod when the throttle is closed, and a vacuum soliniod to divert vacuum to the dump valve when the throttle is on and vents when throttle is open, and tubing from the vacum pump to soliniod and dv, as the diesel dosnt have a butterfly it dosnt create vacuum in the manifold.
theres much information on te net on how to do this
or you could spend silly amount of money for a derv doctor one
i might have the diagramme on pb some were (i have hundreds of photos/albums!!!)
let me know if your intrested, i may even have the vacuum soliniod still. i know i have the micro switch still
-
Was just q sillybthought like said, I knoe can be done on certain diesels just wondered if the mk3 was one.
And im guessing its a big annoying job to do lol
-
it is a bit, but once youve got your head round how to set it up.
only problem, noted on a pug 306 dt, is they dont sound to good. but maybe down to the turbo and psi pressures it makes.
a dv on a derv is for show and will serve no purpose, so to be fair if you want it for the sound then do it, but itll serve no function as the diesel dosnt have throttle plates to cause a backpressure to the turbo.
not only that as it is a diesel you may loose a bit of in between gear power. as your relising pressure that the engine actually uses to keep the engine spinning between fast gear changes
-
Ahh wont bother then, I had.the window down a bit and im sure I heard a 'dumping' off sound as ive drilled the airbox.
Im sure its possible as its actuated and I put a cone filter on a astra td I had which was actuated and that dumped off.

yes you eill get a bit of chatter, from stand still put it in 3nd, rev it while riding the clutch and then drop the clutch, you will get a lot of chatter, is quite nice actually
