Title: OEM retrofits
Post by: Cliff_944 on 11 February 2012, 17:37
Has anyone used this company?

I am thinking of using them to retrofit RNS510 and possibly the cruise control.  Their prices look good and do free fitting.  I'm not sure if this is the lastest version of the SatNav.

I'd give Mortygt140(Darren) a shout, i've had a few things done by him and he's a top bloke.

He did a group buy just before xmas : http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=211445.0 (http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=211445.0)

Also last time i asked he quoted around £100 for Cruise Control.

Depends what version I suppose, I'd say a version C without fitting should cost about £550 so I'd say £700 is steep.

I would agree, I got a version H delivered for around £600.

Grab one on Ebay and fit it yourself, honestly it's so easy. That's from a DIY / practical doofus that I truly am :nerd:

Yes it's easy to fit but you also need VCDS to code it.

Another one for give Darren a shout - Morty - top bloke,  great prices and 100% trustworthy.  The nav really is a DIY job though,  simple.

It's not quite DIY if you have a reversing camera though, you'll need VAGCOM to code it.

If you're DIYing it you definitely need VCDS as you need to BAP enable the RNS and also get the dash display to recognise the unit so that you get the head up display and compass. You will also need to code in for Dynaudio if fitted, plus camera etc.

£700 not a bad price if it includes a warranty etc for peace of mind as it is still about half of what VW will skin you for.

I got mine from Nick from the R32 forums, a few guys from here bought from that guy when Darren stopped selling them.  I can send you his details if you like.

Also I'd be very worried about the feedback that eBay seller recently had on a sold RNS!!!!!
