I bought myself a sandblaster.........what a fantastic bit of kit :smiley:

I've used cabinet type sandblaster's before but this is a hand held one that you use in the open, obviously with mask and goggles. I played on a bit of corrosion on the spare Audi today. Its brilliant, really quickly and very precisely removed all the corrosion with no effort at all. Definately one of my best purchases.........and to anyone that has a compressor and some corrosion to remove, I can recommend that it will be £20 well spent........right now to get to grips with a couple of spots on the Polo :cool:

Can i just use builders materials instead of buying the special grit do you know?

You mean ordinary builders sand? It does say in the instructions, somewhere, not to use ordinary sand. That 7kg bucket should last a while and what I did was lay a piece of plastic around the work area so that I could recycle as much as possible. The Aluminium oxide was the recommended grit for removing ferrous material (rust). There are probably cheaper places to buy the actual grit from..........I just bought that bucket to get me going.

I've used one of these before to make decorative glass work and as long as you use fresh grit its quite effective.

have you tried it out on an old rusty spare wheel yet?

Tried it on a rusty old wing on that old Audi in the garden and it really ate into the rust. I also used it on the inside of the Polo tailgate where some rust had started to appear around the number plate and sidelight holes. Did a great job but the bloody grit got everywhere!
