Title: golf mk3 16v abf

hi there ive got a mk3 golf 16v and the diffs on the way out can anyone tell me about gearbox choices, different ratios etc, i.e. would it pull better with an 8v box etc, regards danish  :smiley:

Don't know much about gear boxes but I know that the 8v box is weaker then the 16v box, so I'd say your best bet would be to source a 16v box.

8v is a rod change box with a cable clutch, 16v is a cable change with a hydraulic clutch...

Stick with the 16v box, swapping to an 8v box is a backward step.

I understand that you can fit a 6 speed 02J Gearbox on if you can find one.

020 has smaller clutch and drive I think.

yeah and have you seen the price of a 6 speed compared to a standard 16v box?

So much needs changing that it is never worth thinking about.
