From threads I have read on the Skoda forum it makes a lot of difference but will make the steering heavier.

PAS is dangerous IMO.

You cant feel the car properly when a pump is turning for you  :smug:

I wouldn't go that far.  Some cars have excellent PAS with speed sensitive weight and feedback...  I suppose early PAS can be like a POS.

Really?

Oh, and non pas can get a little twitchy when running 240bhp through the front wheels

you own a mk3 tho, pas or no pas its not going round any corners fast.

in a mk2 i rate pas over non pas.    the non pas racks are to long. and pas helps you react faster to catch the car when it twitches, there is a penalty of some feel but there is plenty left.  a faster pas rack is allways a good idea imo

manual quick racks can get a bit much  if driveing any distance

Oh yes - it's in the news daily that accidents take place where power steering is highlighted as the cause.

Seriously, W T F?

how? ide agree if it was like there was an electronic circuit doing it for you and if that circuit failed you have no ability to turn, but that is not the case.

the only thing it does is makes the steering slightly lighter and easier to turn than if you were driving a car with no PAS

PAS is a good thing, imagine having to swerve in something like a pissat to avoid someone running into the road without PAS :)

They're heavy and lardy enough to turn normally, never mind without PAS

You're an idiot.  PAS benefits are at low speed.  Your swerving would be fine.  Parking and slow, tight turns are where the issues lie.

we talking a mk4? it might make it feel a bit sportier but it's not exactly a dynamic car to start with

just move your hands quicker
