Title: MK3 Slow to start :/
Post by: CM690 on 06 February 2012, 10:06
Every so often in the mornings my MK3 is very slow to start. Normally it will fire up ok but then when I go to pull off it will stutter and then stall instantly. Then when I try and restart it, it will turn over pretty slowly and eventually fire but will run awfully :undecided: This morning was the worst taking about 4 restarts to get it going and then I had to rev the car to about 1500RPM to stop it from stalling then it was fine all the way to Derby (15 miles).

Only been happening latley and I'm thinking it may be due to the cold weather but last year I never had this problem?... Knackered battery? Alternator not charging properly? Doesn't happen every day though, I'm at uni until 5pm today so it'll have a good standing in the car park all day so I'll see what it's like later when I start it

Anything to try out to fix this?

Worth changing the battery. The cold weather will cause old batteries to discharge more than usual, resulting in difficulty starting.
