Ok so this has been covered milions of times. However I have sealed windscreen and removed heater mesh and sealed under that with silicon, there is water getting in and collecting in the foam seal around the heater motor. I cant see how it is getting in, could it be getting under the spare wiper grommet as i removed that recently to sort some rust? i am confused! thanks mk2 golf of course!

Is the rain tray in place. If not water will run through the heater motor
-
Is it getting in around the windscreen or failing that has your matrix gone pop??
It could be coming from lots of places - process of illumination I'm afraid...

On my old '88 White one we found we had a leak from the rear light's and it found it's way to the passenger footwell so don't just look for the obvious ones... Sunroof drain holes are also a problem item...

Soz mate wasn't being funny just couldn't resist! Yeah as said water can find its way through all sorts so best check everywhere

cheers thats not what i wanted to hear, i think after all that its coming where i sealed it with silicon under the mesh not sure how maybe i broke the seal when i removed the mesh and its getting between there as i felt a drop from inside the car putting my hands up to the mesh, thanks again guys, only pet hate with mk 2s everyone i have had has leaked everywhere till i sorted them out!
Oh how the hell can it get from the rear lights to passenger footwell that is bizarre!

I thought that too - but it's true....
ask any plumber... just cos it dripping in one place - doesn't mean that's where the problem is...
Water will always find the lowest point to collect in!!
