Title: One of those drives...
Post by: Khare on 05 February 2012, 15:51
That just puts a smile on your face.

Oil change in the morning with the full engine flush, new synthetic oil and new STP oil treatment as well as a new K&N oil filter (:smug:) and just been for a short drive and engine is much quieter, smoother and generally much nicer to drive. Does help I paid some polish people £10 yesterday to give the car a clean inside and out as well as spray some nice perfume inside so feels like it hasn't felt in a LONG time.

Roll on next week when I'll be at JKM on the rollers

Just out of interest is it worth flushing the engine every time you are due an oil change?

It's the third time I've done it in 3 years. So long as you use good oil and change it regularly then no, not at every change

Thought you were high when you said K&N oil filter didn't know they did them. Any reason why you chose it or was it just to give it a try?

Just to give it a try mate. At £9 yes they do cost double compared to a normal oil filter, but it's only about £4 more, not exactly going to melt my bank card. Build quality seems good, comes with the wrench off system (nut at bottom of oil can) so it can be removed easily and the flow rate is supposed to be very good

Just now bought a K&N oil filter to go with my cam belt kit and water pump. Just need to take it somewhere to change them

I have always avoided using engine flush, not the greatest idea in the world  :undecided:

Wynn's oil flush.

Can be bad in some cases, but I know my engine well and I do an oil change every 5000 miles so I know there's no sludge to be shifted around the system. Reason I use the flush is to get rid of tar deposits that are around and also to help drain the old oil more thoroughly.

60 miles a 1/4 tank? In a VR6?

Imagine how I drive then to get 40 miles from 1/4 tank   :lipsrsealed:
