Title: r-tech - stage 1 remap, now going to decat....
Post by: lukeyyyyyyy21 on 05 February 2012, 13:59
Hi this is directed at r-tech or anyone else who knows...

basically i've got an AGU. Had a stage 1 r-tech remap. Only mods are pipercross panel filter and Forge 008 with bosch super 4s. It was mapped with these to 188hp - 221lbs ft of torque.

Just wondering will it be ok to have a decat done and possibly a cold air intake fitted? post stage 1 map?

I'm expecting the turbo to spoil up quicker but as it was maped before a decat so am i guessing it's not going to be at the full potential as it would have been if it was maped with the decat?

just i don't see the point or time and cost to have it maped again with only a decat done and nothing else...

Yes that will be fine mate, if your still running standard downpipe it will make a nice bit of difference running the decat. Stay with the airbox and just get it smoothed, cant got wrong with letting the it breath better.

Not worth getting it mapped again unless you upgrade to a k03s.

We can map the ecu for the decat to expliot the faster spool rate and lower egts and lower back pressure,  you can runs a little more load/boost request in the midrange and around another 2.75* of ignition advance at the top end with a lean fuel air mix to help substain your peak hp numbers.  If your not going to go K03s then its worth getting the remap tweaked as the car will feel much better, but if your looking at going FMIC and K03s then it would be a waste of money imo, just wait and get it mapped all in one go.

On its own mertis the decat will unlock some power and the turbo will spool around 300-400rpm quicker.

Ok thanks r-tech.

(previous maintence mods were fit new oil pick up pipe, bosch super 4 spark plugs, flush intercooler, smooth airbox made thanks to you 221lbs ft of torque with no other mods on agu)

I have had the decat done and it felt like i had slight top end improvement and slight quicker responce.

I have also fitted a forge TIP now as well to coincide with the decat.

My future mods are to fit lighter pulleys, uprated inlet manifold gasket, uprated SMIC, then possibley down the line k03s route with S3 injectors, 4 bar fuel pressure reg, VR6 MAF, skline gtr r32 fuel pump for a nice stage 2 in the next couple of months but  before the stage 2 i'm going to have to fit the VR6 clutch & single mass flywheel else i'm sure my clutch will be ruined lol

6 months on standard clutch so far post stage 1 map!!!
