Thanks,

Most of us on here bought ours from SteveP as a group buy.  Not sure if he can still get them, guess you could PM him.

Not sure how to but if you go into sticky section "how to guides" then tap on group buys you will see the posts there, I see it is locked but as I said PM Steve and he may point you in the right direction.  Good luck.  The LED tails look awesome.

Some '09 cars had difficulty coding out the bulb out warnings, depends on the BCM.

Someone with VCDS could help you.

All you need to do is find someone that has taken leave of their senses and decided to practically give a set away complete with wiring harness...

... such as here: http://www.mk5golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,41878.0.html

You may need to get a new BCU if you don't want the light out warning, my car is 09 and I needed one.

At that price it'd still work out decent value if you upgraded it.

I just ignored the warning light, you soon get used to it!

A control module for the electrics. There are several different versions of it and people call it by different names.

Read this thread and all will become clear: http://www.mk6golfgti.co.uk/forum/index.php/topic,81.0.html

I upgraded mine to Golf R ones on my 09 GTI, i didnt need a BCU upgrade Steve P did the coding.

I had just had mine in the dealers as the alarm kept going off, Steve reconed they might have upgraded some softaware as he had never seen an 09 car that didnt need a new BCU.

The dealer wont generally upgrade the BCU software unless there is a fault. Might be worth blagging an alarm fault to see if they upgrade the software, it will save you a couple of hundred quid getting a new BCU

They look cack. One day you'll be parked next to a car with OEM LED's and think "WTF did I waste my money on those for?"

I just ordered mine from a German eBay seller. I thought it was just a random seller but I think it's actually a main dealer out there (from looking at his website link / email address). He checked my VIN number and said I didn't have to upgrade anything for them to work. My car is a 59 plate, but September registered so must have been touch and go with the build date.

Anyway they were 477 euros including postage and adapters, so about £412. This was outside of eBay to save fees. They haven't arrived yet so not sure if I'll have to pay any import tax.. I'd I don't I think that's a pretty decent price.

Sure just go to EBay.de and search for this item '180649073783'. That will take you to them / the seller. He speaks English if you email him.

Did you also ask if these were for a RHD car? It says in the advert, "also available in red for RHD"

Post by: Nutkins on 06 February 2012, 18:12
 Yes I thought of that. Like I said I brought them outside of EBay so checked he had the RHD drive ones / relavent adapters etc first.

Just to say the lights and adapters arrived yesterday, can't remember the exact day I order them but it was the back end of last week, so didn't take long at all. All brand new in VW boxes complete with adapters. in other words this guy is the real deal etc and it's a pretty decent price to get the LED rears.

Took me about 20 mins to fit using SteveP's guide (thanks SteveP), and as others have said they look the total nuts, keep wanting to go outside to check them out

On a side note does anyone know the coding to turn the inner lights off when you open the boot?

Here is the information I obtained from another forum, it worked for me.

With MJ2010 / BCM 2011 from KW45/2009 (0573 & 0575 Software / 0576)
Encoding   Halogen VCDS Byte 18 = 15   Xenon VCDS Byte 18 = 43
Lights go out at the tailgate opens               YES   YES
Error message MFA                                   NO   NO
Problem with front parking light (weak light)   NO   NO
LED tailgate light up more when braking   NO   NO
