Title: Replacing brakes
Post by: km on 03 February 2012, 19:11
How much would a garage charge for labour to change a complete brake setup roughly? Calipers, discs, pads, carriers and lines. Guessing they would have to be bled too. Front and rear btw :)

EDIT. read somewhere a while ago about splash guards, are they required? and the hub needs to come off or? help!

front splash guards can be left alone as they have a lip that goes inwards, doesn't interfere with bigger discs

rear splash guards have to have the lip ground off as they roll outwards so bigger discs will catch.

You can always change the splash guards for the bigger ones but it's not worth the hassle IMO

Don't suppose you could tell me if my current caliper bolts can be reused with the 256mm calipers? The guy who's breaking the car has rounded the bolt so he's decided to cut the bolt altogether!

i've got one more question! hopefully the last one before they get fitted. fronts seem fine. but on the rears, the end of the hose is missing/snapped off. can old brake lines be used or do i need new ones?

circled on the image, the bit that's missing.
