to cut a long story short, car was going to be re mapped by pro tune due to a new larger turbo been fitted, after the first live map at one of his agents he discovered it had been mapped before by revo so been as he was 180 miles away he was to map a replacement ecu send it down and agent to fit it. I was asked to remove the ecu to get the numbers from it which i did, refitted it, started it all sounded good. Anyway pro tune said he couldnt do it as the car is bit of a hybrid and he couldnt do it with that ecu in it as it was the standard 150 ecu, with the stage 2 turbo he said it couldnt be done!!! i dont know to be honest i have just come over from subaru's and still a learning curve for me at minute. Anyhow i got in touch with jabba sport who said no problem he could do it so is booked in for the 7th.
Problem now went back to car started it, running really rough like it was only on 2 or 3 cylinders. I had no time to have a look then as i was picking wife up from work so jumped in the trusty old mk3. Got back to it about an hour later tried to start it nothing!! just turned over. I double checked ecu connection all good, tried all fuses, tried disconnecting battery, last night had a mobile bloke come round to plug it in and it wouldnt pick up the car, think one time it said odb short might be wrong.
really had a guts full at the minute really considering breaking it if this is going to be costly.
any help would be gratefully, many thanks paul

Any fault codes?
-
Thats why you dont use revo for a modified car - especially a hybrid turbo!
You need a full custom map from someone like R-tech who fully understand 1.8T ecus
What mods have you got and engine code?
-
Double check fuse's 10 and 29

ME3.8 can be mapped without problem on hybrids. It's not ideal as they are pretty old but it can be done. Revo tend to give drivel about it not being possible or you can have a stage 1 modified map etc but they just have the capability to map hybrids on the agu properly. You need to as said before speak to R-tech as they will be able to do it. As for you bad running well could be the map or could be just a loose pipe connector etc.
-
Thats the thing, most revo agents just put a stage 1 map on and tweak it slightly and claim you have a custom map. Much safer to get a full custom map IMHO.

Any fault codes?
no fault codes, when he plugged it in it wouldnt bring any data up he tried about 30 times nothing at all like it wasnt even connected!!!

Have you check the fuses 10 and 29 as if they are gone you will be unable to connect

it was mapped by revo before i had it, engine code is AUQ fully forged, custom inlet manifold, garrett gt 28 stage 2 turbo, full milltek exhaust, green injectors, forge front mount etc etc

as for the remap i like what i have read and heard about jabba sport so will give them a try, he reckons a full day on the rollers to set it up total £475 inc vat didnt think this was to bad.
to be honest if this is going to be costly to get repaired i may break it and start again
-
Try giving R-tech a shout....gaurentee it will be cheaper ;)
-
i need to get it running first

Whereabouts are you Mate......I always have trouble trying to connect Vag Com to my car but I have a fault code reader which is miles easier and should get codes unless the aforementioned fuses need changing.

update, towed it to a local garage this morning after 2 hours of investigating they found it was getting fuel and there was a spark all they could find was there was a signal from the crank sensor to the ecu but nothing back out of the ecu, there conclusion is the ecu is at fault they are saying they can have it sent away to be checked and repaired if there is a fault. My question is does this sound like it could be the problem? if i buy another ecu with matching numbers will it plug in and work i know i will have to get the key coded but apart from that will it be ok?
-
Unless there is further problems....
-
So the tuner who couldn't do it told you the AUQ had a standard 150bhp ECU in there?!
Alarm bells are ringing Willy...
-
can anybody help as need to get my car back running asap will another ecu work? will it have to have matching numbers?
-
do you get a flashing key icon on the dash while you try starting it?
You can't just plug another ECU in and fire it up, it needs to be coded in via VAG COM first
you will need an ECU from an AUQ engined Golf (180bhp) but as for numbers being right/wrong I don't know
