Title: Exam Technique
Post by: Sam on 02 February 2012, 08:30
Ok, so I have a uni exam at 1pm today but haven't had an exam in 4 years (this doesn't sound like much, but considering I have been in eduction for all that time its rather weird) and was just wondering if anyone had any hints, tips or techniques that they use for such an occasion. I'm not the most academic person in the world and have to revise by drawing pictures  and association (like card memory people). But in the exam I have no technique at all...

Depends on the style of the exam. If it's written eg four questions, all long answer, subtract 30mins from the time and divide the rest between the questions. Make sure you allow yourself enough time not just to do the questions but also check it.

Take the right equipment with you. If all you need is a pen, take two or three in case one runs out. If you're using a calculator, check whether there are any restrictions, and stick some fresh batteries in.

Make a plan of how you're gonna answer the question(s) and use it to guide you and form a good layout.

Sounds good to me, its 2.30 long. With 5 questions but only answer4. So 30 min per question then half an hour to go through? Sounds good to me, i do it on a computer too cos i am a retard so no worries with the pens. Thanks, now back to revision.

Use a separate piece of paper to plan your answers is the best thing I ever did.

I have just (Within the last 2 weeks) finished my exams.

All done, alot better than expected  3080 words in 2.30hrs thoughm thats half my diss  . Anyhow thanks for the advice and support guys, followed it but only had 15 min left at the end but still enough time to go through and pick up any obvious loose marks. All in all there wasnt any 'the kyoto protical was drawn up on the 16th feb 2005' bollocks, essentially parrot memory questions so I should of done ok.  :lipsrsealed:
