I'm sure this has been covered a million and one times but can someone give me a definitive guide in converting to 5 stud on my lovely mk2? Thanks
-
Go wide track with mk3 hubs, wishbones and track rods on the front, and a mk3 rear axle as its about 10-15mm wider than a mk2.
Mk2 narrow track is a b@stard to do, but the rear is just simply discs and hubs.
-
OK thanks for that, so narrow track is narrower than I currently have?
I'm looking for a bit of dish when it comes to wheels, is a wider track going to affect that in any way when it comes to being lowered?
-
No no, narrow track is what you've got already, fitting the Mk3 components will give it a wider track, hence the term.
What kind of wheels are you looking at, or is it a set of 5x100's that have tickled your fancy?
-
nothing special, just these (http://i.ebayimg.com/00/s/MTIwMFgxNjAw/$(KGrHqV,!g0E7RkWCBvsBPHI3zyIGQ~~60_12.JPG)
..... to start with
I assume they're 5x100
thanks for the gen, I am new to the VAG game!
And if I wanted to fit PAS as well, what would the repercussions be? mk2 or mk3 components for that?
-
Those wheels are early A4 items, so they'll be 5x112 I think, and god knows why you would want to fit them  .
Retro-fitting PAS isn't too bad a job, but it all depends on your spanner skills and what car you want to fit it to. Also Mk2 items from a scrapped GTi would be your best bet.

They are 100% 5x112 and horrid tbh

Christ been ages since i last posted. Alright those wheels are pretty rough, but better than the steels it currently doesn't run on. I'm just about to prepare to start buying parts, and it should be moving to its new home soon.
It needs all new brakes as they are all seized on now  So I'm thinking either 5-stud it or all new 4-stud and go for rear discs instead. Is it advisable to fit an uprated master cylinder, and can i fit a servo in there too?

Don't suppose you still have any of these parts do you?

My Spanner skills aren't too shabby, I'm pretty confident with one actually. I've had a good look about on eBay but they all seem to go for quite a bit!
