you can fit any badge, they just clip on (although you may snap a clip or two when removing from the golf!! I just add some body trim tape for extra security)

Depends on the grille.

When I first got my Vento front, it had a horrific debadged late grille, and I put the GTI grille badge on it in an attempt to make it look less horrific.

When I got my facelift and then my early grille.... The space between the slats was too large for the GTI badge to clip in (not that I wanted to), and the early grille too small.

Aye, thats a late style grille, same style as the one which my GTi badge fitted.

Vento and debadged grilles looks better without the GTI badges

That particular debadged grille would have looked better in the bin

Swapped it directly for a facelift badged one with someone after 2 days of Vento front ownership, so was well in the end...

Gti badge works on a badged vento grill. And debadged vento grill only works totaly debadged I recon.

yeah thats exactly what i want, is that aftermarket? also ive posted a thread about the conversion itself and had mixed feedback, i just want a simple answer... is it a straight swap from a 96 vento to 96 golf? if not, how much modification is needed? cheers guys

Straight swap mate, no mods!!!

As Junior said.  You don't even need to swap the front panel, although it seems a lot of front ends are sold with them.

My fiancée actually put my Vento front on while I was making a brew.   She's good with cars so I better not say "its that easy" as if she reads it Ill get battered

My grille is just an early Vento grille fella, its not an aftermarket one.  They can be quite hard to get hold of and invariably there is some scene tax applied when they do come up for sale.

Already answered that one for you....  Early Grille.

A quick scan of ebay has revealed no early grilles for sale, but there is a facelift/phase 2 grille shell for £20.

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VW-VENTO-EARLY-92-95-HEADLAMP-GRILLE-1H5853653V7D-NEW-RARE-/250973307519?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a6f2cc27f#ht_2203wt_952

Missing the bottom metal strip, but the seller says he is selling that separately. I sold the same grille without flash for £25 so I reckon the money is spot on.

If you were to buy it, and got stuck for a metal strip, at a push I have a spare, but I was intending to hold onto it and get it painted up the same colour as my car...

Oh. The front end im planning on buying already has that grille, i want the earlier  one with 4 slats, found a brand new one but its $170

That is about right...as they are obsolete from the main dealers now, and very sought after for those running vento fronts.

I got offered £120 for mine in the first week of owning it.  I turned it down - why would I sell it!

Well that sucks! Not sure weather i'd just keep the later grille on or buy an aftermarket debadged one, badged looks soooooo much better tho! So just to comfirm, bonnet,  headlights and grille is all i need? Cheers guys

That would be correct. The sticker says VW Golf 3 and so does the advert..
